The six, sick of their servitude to [[The Shadowed One]], abandon the [[Dark Hunter]]s and take the name [[Piraka]]. They go to Mangaia, investigating rumors of [[Makuta]]'s death, where they find his empty armor. In raiding the lair, [[Hakann]] finds a Spear of Fusion and accidentally fires it at [[Vezok]], who splits into two. The second being takes the name [[Vezon]] and claims the spear before the entire group suddenly gets the same thought in their heads: a Mask of Life exists, on the island of [[Voya Nui]], and it has to be found. Unfortunately, the group gets attacked by [[Mana Ko]] guardians, while Vezon slips away unnoticed, the rest escape to the island of Mata Nui and discover Toa canisters. They decide not only to use the canisters to get to [[Voya Nui]], but to pretend to be Toa once they get there.
