They were elevators used in Onu-Koro in the Great Mine to get from Onu-Koro to the bottom of the Great Mine. They were no longer used when the Gahlok flooded the Great Mine, but were put into use again after the waters subsided. They were probably destroyed by the recently awakened Bohrok swarms.
