The Great Disruption was the direct result of a 400-year civil war which took place on Metru Nui long ago. This disrupted work supposed to be being done and ended when all Matoran leaders were banished to the Pit. The halting of the work on Metru Nui caused Mata Nui to nearly die; Jovan's team was dispatched to retrieve the Kanohi Ignika from Voya Nui, take it to the Universe Core, and save Mata Nui's life, at the cost of one of their members's lives.
