The Great Temple was a site located in Ga-Metru dedicated to the Great Spirit Mata Nui. The temple housed the Toa Suva.
History

The Great Temple was created in Ga-Metru, on Metru Nui, after Mata Nui took off on his quest to observe the universe. A Suva was built inside.
When a group of Protocairn attacked Metru Nui, they destroyed the Great Temple. The creatures eventually died and created a new land mass. A new Great Temple was built on the Protocairn-formed land.
When the Dark Hunters had tracked down Toa Lhikan and attempted to capture him, one of the internal pillars was damaged by Krekka.
The Toa Suva
It was here where Vakama and company transformed into the Toa Metru. In the temple were the names of the Matoran thought to become the new set of Toa in Metru Nui. The names instead referred to the Matoran who found the Great Disks; the Order of Mata Nui had tricked Teridax into believing the Toa Metru were not destined to become Toa.
The inside of the temple was almost completely destroyed during the Visorak invasion when Vakama captured the Rahaga and trapped Norik.
The Toa Nuva entered this temple to recover the scroll they needed to awaken Mata Nui.
The Temple was restored back to its original glory when the Staff of Artakha was used to heal the universe.
