Mahi, also known as Maha, were placid Rahi that lived in groups on the plains of Mata Nui. Although peaceful by nature, they were quick to react to dangerous situations. Their opponents would try to avoid the Rahi's horns and hooves, which it could use with surprising speed. They also seemed to have a surprising affection for Pohatu. When Gahlok-Kal took Pohatu's Nuva Symbol, it magnetized several Mahi to Pohatu.
A Mahi's horns were quite valuable to Po-Matoran because they made a lot of weapons out of them, such as the Po-Koro guards' spears.
