The Makuta "Pool" was a greenish-black liquid pool located underground on an island within the Southern Island Chain, and a part of the Matoran Universe. It was secured in a room in a canyon there.

History

The origins of the greenish-black liquid is unknown. 100,000 years ago, Mata Nui used this and molded it into the living bodies of the Makuta species, becoming the only place to create any future ones.

100,000 years later, it was found by two Order of Mata Nui members, Axonn, and Brutaka. Their mission was to destroy the substance to prevent the creation of any more Makuta, but before they could, it exploded, and stunned, they fell into the pool.
