The Papa Nihu Reef was the beach area of Onu-Wahi on the island of Mata Nui, and the site of Onua's arrival. It was home to Rahi such as the peaceful Hoi turtles, as well as a species of organic birds. A couple Madu trees also grew on the beach, which bore explosive Madu Fruit that made for a useful weapon when thrown.
History[]
Like the rest of the island, the Papa Nihu Reef was first formed when Mata Nui was struck unconscious by Makuta and collapsed into the seas of Aqua Magna, the impact caused Mata Nui's camouflage ability to malfunction, and thus an island came to be formed over his submerged face.
Almost a millennium after the former Toa Metru and the rescued Matoran of Metru Nui populated the island, the outcast Takua - having recently been banished from his home village of Ta-Koro - ended up wandering Papa Nihu's shore until he was approached by Jala, Captain of the Ta-Koro Guard about a crisis in Onu-Koro.
Later, after Takua accidentally summoned the Toa Mata, the canister carrying Onua washed ashore on this beach. From here, the reawakened Toa of Earth ventured deeper into Onu-Wahi.
