The Kanohi Ruru was the Mask of Night Vision. The Great Ruru gave its user the power to see clearly in darkness and a limited amount of x-ray vision. It also allowed them to cast a beam of light for illumination, which could be used to blind opponents. The Noble Ruru only allowed its user to see clearly in darkness.

Ruru were carved out of a mixture of Teleport and Enlarge Kanoka on Metru Nui.Anyone can access this mask's power.

Example Usage

Great: In BIONICLE 2: Legends of Metru Nui, Toa Whenua used his Ruru to illuminate a cave that Lhikan, Onewa, Nuju, and himself walked through. He later used his Ruru to see through the floor of the Coliseum.

Noble: In BIONICLE Chronicles 4: Tales of the Masks, Turaga Whenua used his Noble Ruru to watch two Manas fight each other.

Set Information

The Kanohi Ruru was first released in 2001 in Noble form as part of the Turaga Whenua set. It was also released in five other colors, as part of the Kanohi Mask Packs.

The Kanohi Ruru was also released in 2004 in Great form as part of the Toa Metru Whenua set, and in in Noble shape as part of the Matoran Nuhrii set. In 2005, the Ruru was released yet again in the Toa Hordika Whenua set, this time, in its Hordika mutated version.
